This study aims to demonstrate the functions of the nurse in relation to the use of premedication for prevention of adverse reactions to iodinated contrast. The methodology adopted an integrative review was exploratory and descriptive in order to understand the main characteristics, the participation of nurses in the process of the use of iodinated contrast media. The study set up a one-year period using the scientific databases LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE, PUBMED and BDENF, extracting journals published in the last eleven years available in full in English and Portuguese. In conclusion the use of combination of antihistamines with corticosteroids is the basis of prophylaxis adverse reactions related to MCI.
