MULTIDISCIPLYNARY ASSISTANCE TO PATIENTS WITH SICKLE CELL ANEMIA IN THE HOSPITALIZATION DUE TO PAIN CRISES: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objective: to describe multidisciplinary team interventions related to pain management in patients with sickle cell anemia during hospitalization. Method: integrative literature review, conducted from the research question: what are the interventions that the multidisciplinary team uses for the management of pain patients with sickle cell anemia during the hospitalization? For this there was a search in the database (Lilacs), (Medline) and (SciELO), during the period from October to may 2015 2016, with the health sciences descriptors (DeCS): “sickle cell anemia”, “pain management”, “pain”, “treatment”, “patient care team” resulting in 19 articles. Results: multidisciplinary team interventions is based on pain management, the use of opioids, intravenous hydration, blood transfusion, psychological care and adjuvant therapies such as acupuncture. Conclusion: the activities of the multidisciplinary team in patients with sickle cell anemia allows a reduction in the length of stay in hospital costs impacting and improving the treatment of pain.Downloads
