Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to describe the most frequent causes of absenteeism among nursing workers. METHOD: Bibliographic review of absenteeism of nursing professionals from the period of 2010 to 2016. RESULTS: The most frequent causes of absenteeism were diseases of the musculoskeletal system, diseases of the respiratory system and mental illness. CONCLUSION: The national studies carried out with the nursing team presented as main cause of absenteeism-disease the pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, and nursing technicians and auxiliaries registered a greater number of absences at work.
