This is a documentary research with quantitative input, which analyzed data on accident benefits granted by musculoskeletal disorders in healthcare professionals, available in Social Security Statistical Yearbook, 2009. The percentages of absenteeism musculoskeletal diseases and connective tissue in the area of health and human services were calculated in relation to total accident benefits in the same year. We identified the granting of 329,914 accident benefits for work-related diseases and 98,415 cases per WMSD, the second leading cause of granting benefits, equivalent to 30% of total records. The budgetary impact of these departures represented 32% of total aid granted labor accident and illness, a cost of R $ 263,085.00. The prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries removals also happened among health professionals, suggesting a correlation between illness and the presence of occupational hazards in the workplace and enhancing the understanding for the need to establish programs of health promotion and prevention of injuries through the reorganization of the production process that includes the participation of the worker in the settings of your work process and job characteristics in contemporary capitalism.
