Introduction: Among the changes that occur after stroke, there is heminelect. In this condition, the individual neglects the compromised hemipoprotein, directly impacting its functionality. Objective: To describe the profile of individuals with heminelect characteristics after stroke. Methods: Cross-sectional study involving individuals assisted in a Stroke Unit in the city of Salvador, Bahia. The following were applied: Modified Rankin Scale and National Institutes of Healthy Stroke Scale; And the Line Bisection and the Star Cancellation to evaluate the characteristics of heminegligence. The data were evaluated by SPSS (13.0). Categorical variables were presented in absolute terms and / or relative frequency. In the bivariate analysis Fisher's exact test was used for categorical variables, the Mann-Whitney test was used for continuous variables. The measure of statistical significance adopted was p ? 0.05. Results: Data were collected from 269 individuals. Of these, 19 (7%) presented characteristics of heminelect. Of the individuals with visual impairment, 11 (79%) were males, with a mean age of 62.9 (± 12.0) years and the mean length of hospital stay was 11.2 (± 10.5). Eight (57%) had ischemic stroke, eight (57%) lesions in the left hemisphere, the median severity of stroke was 8 (2-20), disability was 1,2 (1-5). Of the individuals with visual and tactile heminelect, three (60%) were men, older 68.0 (± 15.6), three (60%) had ischemic stroke, and three (60%) had right hemisphere Hospitalization of 13.3 (± 6.8) days, with median severity of stroke 8 (7-14) and disability 5 (1-5) points. No statistical significance was found in any of the analyzes. Conclusion: The profile of hemineleptic patients is of male individuals, retired, with low schooling, hypertensive, with a higher incidence of ischemic stroke and severe functional impairment.Downloads
