Abstract

The objective is to demonstrate, by means of literature, the benefits of playful activities to the cognitive stimulation in elderly patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a common amendment of aging, with impaired learning ability and memory. Methodology: This is a literature review, where 18 articles were selected in Portuguese and Spanish, between the years 2008 and 2013, on database of SCIELO, BIREME, LILACS, Ministry of Health, IBGE and still supported in current literature by means of books, monographs, dissertations and thesis. Conclusion: The cognitive stimulation performed through playful activities benefits patients with MCI, acting as a means that retards the emergence of more aggravating dementias, in addition to stimulating reasoning capacity and socialization of older people.
