Abstract

Introduction: Posture is the provision on the body, through a composite of different joints positions in a moment. The foot system is an important tool to control the posture. Through ascending motor pathways, the foot information controls the positions of the feet and others body segments to balance and coordinate the body in relation to the external environment. Posturology is an area that has a postural approach through prevention and treatment using the principle of intervention by means of proprioceptive insoles. Objetive: To evaluate the association between types of foot and changes in postural alignment in the sagittal plane. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted in physiotherapy students. The attitude and support plant were evaluated by assessing postural podoscopy respectively. The protocol used for classification was that of Bernard Bricot. Analysis of association between posture and classification of foot type was performed by the graphic method of Correspondence Analysis. Results: The study enrolled 55 subjects. The age ranged between 18 and 42 years. Males predominated (52.7%). Double-component foot was observed in 54.5% of individuals and this was associated with posture B - plans aligned and increased curvature. Posture D - back plane, scapular plane before - was found in 49.1% of volunteers. Conclusion: Results shows association between double-component foot and posture B, differently than described by Bricot, pointing to the importance of reviewing the concepts to prescription proprioceptive insoles.
