MILITARY WORKERS' HEALTH: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract

Objective: To identify, in the national and international scientific production, characteristics and factors that can influence the military worker’s health. Method: Integrative review, with a bibliographical search in the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciencies Information and National Library of Medicine databases, and the Scientific Electronic Library Online virtual library, in the period of January and May 2016, with different combinations of descriptors. Results: A total of 19 studies were included, between 1986 and 2015. It was observed that military workers health is influenced by socioeconomic, labor, and habits and health variables, with stress being one of the main occupational health problems among military. Conclusion: the importance and necessity of adopting health promotion and prevention of diseases measures with this population to maintain their physical and mental conditions and the constitution of healthier and more satisfactory work environments.
