PRISON AND ABANDONMENT: PRISON, PENALIZATION AND GENDER RELATIONS

Considering the dinamics present in Brazilian female incarceration and the abandon of women in jail as analyzers of the gender relations, the following article sustains that the devices – prison and abandon –, have a strong relation with the social roles put by the androcentric point-of-view, as seen by the criminological positivism. Therefore, this study intends to identify the profile of women in deprivation of liberty through gender identity analysis. In addition to that, it seeks to comprehend what have been written about the penitentiaries that receive those women, their possible incarcerations causes, as well as the abandonment. Through the perspective of problematize the double penalization which those women undergo, it is intended to point out possible contributions from criminology in its new possibilities, from Feminism in its multiple sheds and from psychology.
