THE HUMANIZATION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH NETWORK IN SALVADOR- BRAZIL

Abstract

Introduction: This article talks about the humanization of psychological care in the public health network in Salvador – Bahia. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the applicability of the Humanization Nacional Policy (PNH) proposal in terms of the psychological care as well as to analyze the welcoming environment guidelines and expanded clinical from the perspective of that policy. Method: It is a qualitative research, which consisted of a descriptive and exploratory study, utilizing oral history methodology and the technique of thematic analysis of its contents. To collect the data, it was opted to interview psychologists from the public healthcare network. Results and discussion: The results demonstrated that the psychology professionals identify and relate the welcoming environment guidelines in their healthcare practices. They identify the expanded clinical guidelines but they do not fully relate that guideline to their work field. The interviewees consider that the psychological care provided to the users is humanized, however the psychological, services have some local deficiencies such as healthcare network failures and lack of effectiveness in the welcoming environment. Final considerations: This study demonstrated that in the research field, the psychological care provided does not fulfill the PNH founding principles and, highlights, the importance of an increase in the investment in healthcare management; the expansion of the discussion about PNH in terms of academics studies of psychologists; and especially the training of healthcare professionals in order to increase self-knowledge in relation to professional growth and the desired level of development.
