Abstract

Introduction; The currently mental health policies have been created which propound new approaches to people with mental disorders and, among them, we have the Unique Therapeutic Project (PTS) which goal is organize care according to the needs and social context of a person or groups. Goal: Analyze how care is organized for patients hospitalized in a psychiatric unit of a general hospital in light of the PTS concept. Method: This is an exploratory study with qualitative approach, carried out through interviews with 14 health professionals of this unit. Data analysis was conducted using Thematic Content Analysis. Results: The categories identified were: the vicissitudes of teamwork, encompassing integral care and the challenges of teamwork; relationship between the PTS and the care developed and suggestions to improve patient care, highlighting the need for investment in human and physical resources, improvement of teamwork process, and greater integration of psychosocial care network services. Final considerations: It was concluded that the interviewees appreciate teamwork, although without institutional support to solve problems. The study reveals the need for training of professionals motivating them towards interdisciplinary through their own practice.
