The psychology is frequently presented by authors from different theoretical and ideological perspectives as both science and profession, being usually referred to as polivalent and full of identitary ambiguities resulting not only from the human complexity itself but also from a very rich constitution of the psychology field of research on the fringes of many other fields of knowledge and research (1-8). By keeping that in mind, this essay presents a pathway of displacements taken by the psychology research field from its early history to nowadays, remarking the impossibility to pinpoint a single essential identity to the psychology field of research. Instead of affirming an identity, this essay presents it as a vast field, built on different practices and distinctive epistemic principles that can manifest many times as antagonic forces. Thus, it remarks the complexity presented in the formative education of a psychologist.Downloads
