QUALITY OF LIFE, BODY IMAGE AND SATISFACTION IN AESTHETIC TREATMENTS

Objective: This article has as its goal to analyze the influence of aesthetic treatments on women’s quality of life, body image and satisfaction, to compare the quality of life and the body image, and women's satisfaction degree before and after aesthetic treatments; and correlate the areas of quality of life with body image and satisfaction degree. Methods: This is an analytical, cross-sectional and quantitative character observational study, held in an aesthetical clinic in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. The sample was limited to the female population, on a total of 70 participants who had body aesthetical procedures, such as lipocavitation, thermal blanket and carboxiterapy. The information were provided through the sociodemographic questionnaire, Body Shape Questionnaire - BSQ and the WHOQOL-BREF. The collected data were organized in spreadsheet tables by Microsoft Office Excel® 2007, and analyzed using a statistical software, The StatisticalPackage for Social Sciences running in Windows, which was held descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, means comparison by the student’s t-test and frequency distribution with the sociodemographic data. The consistency of the used instruments was evaluated by Cronbach's coefficient. Results/Conclusions: The means comparison between the results before and after the treatments shows that for all areas a significant difference has occurred (p < 0,0001). Therefore, aesthetic treatments significantly improve overall issues, physical, psychological, social relationships, body image and satisfaction degree and influenced positively on body image and quality of life, increasing the women’s satisfaction degree.
