ASSOCIATION BETWEEN POSTURE AND PERSONALITY IN COLLEGE STUDENTS

Introduction: The posture is the position that the body adopts on the influence of gravity on anatomical, structural and psychosocial factors. Some authors, such as Godelieve Denys-Struyf have thought to emphasize the influence of personality in body posture. Objective: To assess the association between body posture and personality in academics of physiotherapy for a particular institution of higher education in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia. Methods: An observational study cross-sectional analysis to evaluate the body posture and personality and to verify the association between the two based on profiles outlined by Godelieve Denys-Struyf (GDS). It was realized a photographic evaluation to evaluate the posture and it was applied the personality test questionnaire to identify the types of personality of individuals. Results: There were 50 academicians of the course of physiotherapy of both sexs prevailing the women, deft and aged between 19 and 44 years. Of the total of participants in the study in 88% it was possible to associate the posture and the personality that prevailed the types ALAM, AM-PL and AP-PA-PL of GDS (p <0.001). Conclusion: With this study it was possible to conclude that in addition of genetics and other factors, the personality is also a major influence of body posture of an individual.Downloads
