Abstract

The presence of caregivers / relatives in the hospital is recognized as a factor that enhances the patient's improvement. This article aims to understand the perceptions of the caregivers of hospitalized children about the activities developed by the Educate and Humanize extension project in health. The methodology adopted was qualitative from the perspective of the Freirean conception of education. The Circle of Culture is formed by the caregivers of children hospitalized and academics of the courses of Physical Therapy, Nutrition and Psychology These assessments were addressed categorically as follows: Reception to the caregiver; sharing experiences, the exchange of knowledge; and taking the focus of the disease, conversations that modify. the hospitalization process reveals feelings of anguish, loneliness, sadness and expectations. The strategies used by the students have brought positive results as a decrease in these tensions where they report feelings of relief, confidence, motivation and relaxation.
