Introduction: The pregnancy-puerperal cycle is a very particular moment of the woman and can be experienced in different ways by her and her companion. The practice of multidisciplinarity in the care of the pregnant couple is recommended by the Ministry of Health, in order to guarantee them respect for their choices and decisions. Objective: To analyze the perception of pregnant women participating in a preparatory course for gestation, delivery and postpartum (CPGPP) on the multidisciplinary approach used during the course. Materials and methods: 9 couples participated in the study. Two evaluation instruments were used, elaborated by the researchers: the Clinical and Obstetric Assessment Form and the questionnaire about the couple's perception regarding the multidisciplinary approach adopted in the CPGPP. The qualitative treatment of the data was performed through discourse analysis. Results: The main result showed that the multidisciplinary approach used in the course is important in the couple's perception, since it extends care to the pregnant woman, beyond the restricted limits of the medical approach. In addition, shared information is useful for managing pregnancy-related changes as well as newborn care and strengthening the bond between the couple. Conclusion: The multidisciplinary practice of Health Education is relevant, in the perception of the participants of educational groups, since it expands the assistance to the pregnant couple. Additionally, the acquired knowledge provides greater security to the pregnant woman and her partner to face the changes arising from the pregnancy-puerperal cycle.
