Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the temporal evolution of admissions, average hospital stay, mortality rate, mortality and expense figures from databases DATASUS for the State of Bahia. Methods: An ecological descriptive time series for the period January 2008 to June 2011 the state of Bahia in Macro-regions of Health. Secondary data were selected based on hospital procedures obtained for the total population from the database of the Mortality Information System of the Ministry of Health, present in DATASUS. Results: The time evolution on the number of admissions, the average hospital days, increased, the mortality rate, the total value of paid admissions, the number of deaths throughout the state of Bahia. With respect to the variation of sex and race / color, no change worthy of note, but there was a clear age of 75 years and over. Conclusions: The results suggest linear growth in the number of hospitalizations resulting from DVT in the state of Bahia. It is considered essential to strengthen health surveillance actions with actions for the prevention of DVT in hospitals.
